Some benefits of switching to a lick mat include

• Calmness (the receptive licking can help to release feel good hormones that can be very comforting)

• Digestion (lick mats can help to slow a dog down, promoting better digestion and overall better gut health and better overall health)

• Enrichment (foraging is perfectly normal and health behaviour for dogs, eating from a bowl is not)

• While we do like and use puzzle feeders and Kong type toys too, it’s not always advisable to make feeding “difficult” every time. Challenge does not always equal enrichment, it can lead to frustration too. We find that lick mats or bowls for most meals and puzzles on occasion make for a great balance and keeps feeding fun!

• Quiet time (unlike stainless steel bowls, silicone lick mats are nice and quiet. Some pets can be sensitive to the noise a stainless steel bowl makes
